Information and Planning summary:

A large room has been reserved for up to 100 people for a meal and reunion event.
It would be best if we have at least 50 or more attending.
This room has been reserved and available starting at 5pm until 11 pm…but we could go later if desired.
I assume we will want to set up the room with memorabilia from our H.S. days. We can schedule decorating to be at 5 pm or before. We should select the time to begin our event that evening. One idea
would be to start at 6 pm for a time to visit, then 6:30 pm for Salad, and 7pm main entree…or if buffet start at 6:30 pm. Then a program would begin at 7:30 pm or later.
We will need to obtain reservations and a check from each person that wishes to attend by about Thursday, September 14. The checks could be sent in to Trudy Wentz Jacobson, our class treasurer.
For the dinner at the Marriott:
With each entrée comes a choice of soup or salad, selection of vegetables and starch, and a choice of dessert, fresh baked bread service along with ice tea and coffee service. (For the plated meal
these choices are made in advance so everyone receives the same thing. For the buffet the choices are made as each person goes through the line.)
We have some choices to make:
Do we wish to have a plated entrees or a buffet dinner.
The Buffet dinner cost depends if we wish to have two main entrees $35 per person or 3 main entrees $37 per person plus 22% or $7.70 or $8.14 which is the service charge and sales tax that is added
to these prices making the buffet cost to be either $42.70 or $45.14 per person.
The Plated dinner can be less cost depending on what we wish to have. The Marriott suggest we pick two entrees that each person can to choose from for their personal entree in advance with their
reservation.
Some examples we could choose are:
A Sauteed Chicken Breast is $24 plus 22% or $5.28 total $29.28
A Oven Roasted Pork is the same $24 plus 22% or $5.28 total $29.28
Grilled Salmon is $28 plus 22% or $6.16 total $34.16
London Broil is $28 plus 22% or $6.16 total $34.16
Mushroom Stuffed Eggplant $24 plus 22% or 5.28 total $29.28
I suggest that whatever we choose, that we round off the price to an even dollar amount, such as the buffet would be either $43.00 or $46.00. And the plated dinner would be about $30 or $35 each. The
additional pennies that we collect would go toward other cost of the event such as decorations etc.
Please give your input as to what you think on this menu…which do you prefer? Some may say that the prices are high…but please remember we are not being charged anything for the use of the room.
I have attached documents to this email that the Marriott sent to me…which gives more detail. We need to make our decision between a choice of a 2 or 3 entrée buffet or a plated meal with a choice of
one of two plated meal entries.
Another decision that we should make is what we want for the Beverages, like Cocktails, wines or beers. Do we wish to have this? If so how will it be handled? If we have a cash bar, then it would
cost us a bartender fee of $100 if bar sales are not equal to or above $500 in sales. Marriott can simply have some bottles of wine or beer at a cost per bottle…and each person helps themselves at a
cost per bottle plus 22% service charge. Beer is about $5 per container and wines are about $30 to $45 per bottle. We cannot bring this type of beverage into the Marriott ourselves. (After we decide
what we want I will need to visit with Marriott on this.)
