It was that kind of day in December. Bob took advantage of the beautiful day.
Honoring our class veterans that attended our luncheon on Veterans Day 2015.

Yes, they are all heroes! Thanks guys!!
Our "Just Lunch" being on Veterans Day, we thanked and gave special attention to our classmate veterans. Some told stories of some of
their experiences which we enjoyed. We had approximately 13 in attendance. It was decided to have our monthly lunch in December, even though it is a holiday month. We celebrate 1
year coming January, 2916.
We had a great time last week Wednesday, Oct. 14th at our Mini-Reunion. A total of 29 were present at the Holiday Bowl, this includes all the guests as well. The Holiday Bowl did an excellent job of hosting our event. Thanks goes to Bill Johnson for making these arrangements. During the afternoon, many of us went across the street to visit the Augusta History Museum and Log House.
The evening setting was at the Fulton Valley Farm north of Augusta, David and Betty Corbin the owners, set up the tables with the black and orange colors and great decorations as center pieces. David, one of our class members, and his wife did a great job of sharing their venue. The lights were turned on in the evening, some of the class members rode a golf cart over to see the reindeer. The meal in the evening was catered by 2Brothers who brought in the food and then Betty set it all out for us to enjoy. 20 of us visited and shared life experiences and stories of our high school days. The Fulton Valley Farm is a great venue for weddings and other special events.
The weather was very nice and warm for our mini-reunion…I think the temp was in the 80’s…no coats were required.
Class News Update:
Enjoyed another lunch with our classmates. David R. Corbin was our "newcomer" of the month.
We remembered our classmate and friend, Carmen Stueven Laflin. Her funeral is Friday morning, September 11, at 11A.M. at the First Christian Church in Augusta.
An update on Buck Leedom is that he is home from hospital and being assisted by Home Health Care. Please send Buck a card to let him know we are thinking about him. Duane will email his address.
Final plans are being made for our mini reunion October 14, 2015. Bill Johnson is in charge of finalizing. Here is what we know now:
A buffet will be served at the Holiday Bowl beginning at 11:30 A.M.
An afternoon and evening plus catered meal will be held at the Corbin barn and facilities. Times and final plans will come from Bill via email from Duane.
Jim DeWitt will be in charge of pictures for our website and facebook. I (Tommy) will not be able to attend due to prior plans involving my family. Sorry I will miss all of you.
You might notice, Bob Butler comes in real style to our lunches. Yes, in his VIPER!!
The "Man" behind the planning is our own Bill Johnson!
With Bill's and Duane's help we have a nice list of attendees for October 14, at our mini-reunion. We have made preliminary plans and final plans will be
made in September. An evening dinner is being planned.
See the update from Duane and more about our June Lunch. Things are changing next month. Please read.
Jill gave us the news that this will be her last "Just Lunch" with the group. She has purchased a house in Texas, close to her daughter and will be moving soon just north of Houston. Good luck Jill! We are going to miss you. We send our classmate love with you and may your life be a happy and joyous journey.
Our class rancher and cowboy, Harold Ralston, stopped by and had lunch with us this month. Thanks Harold for coming!

The following was sent out by Janelle Hutter, class of 1963 today, March 8, 2015.
Dear Classmates,
Cheryl Ortmann McCallum --- We have received word that Cheryl Ortmann McCallum passed away. Yesterday afternoon someone from the Lutheran Church here in Augusta sent Cheryl Dewing Arthaud a note telling her of Cheryl's passing. She and husband, Rod McCallum, Class of 62, were on their way to Augusta for Cheryl's Mother's birthday when Cheryl passed. Linda Gould Ralston later talked to Rod and he told Linda that they were planning to stop for the night then continue on to Augusta today. As he was driving he heard something and looked over at Cheryl. She was convulsing and by the time he got the vehicle off the road and stopped she was gone. He, of course, called 911. Because she died in Oklahoma, Oklahoma has to keep her body until toxicology reports are completed and a cause of death is determined. Rod has gone back home and is making plans for a memorial service near their home in Bryan, Texas. Rod said it was Cheryl's wish to be cremated. There will not be a service in Augusta, and there is no memorial designated for contributions. If you wish to make a contribution, you could make it to your favorite charity in Cheryl's name. If you want to send a card, Cheryl's and Rod's address is:

We are sad to learn about Diane Perkins Wuthnow husband’s death, Rod Wuthnow. Betty Brown email me to share that Rod died this morning, Thursday, January 22, 2015. This took place after Rod was
enrolled in Hospice for one month.
We express our sympathy to Diane, to her children, Terri and John, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. We will be praying for Diane and family at this time.
You may recall that Diane’s sister, Lonnie Kay died November 2103 and her mother, Joan Perkins died Dec. 2013. This is a lot to deal with in about 14 months. Contact for Diane's address
Dear 1962 AHS Classmates,
I talked to the manager of the Augusta Pizza Hut today. She told me many of the AHS classes have regular meetings at the Pizza Hut meeting room each month. Most classes normally have between 10 and
20 people show up.
So here is your invitation. “All 1962 AHS class members, family and friends are invited to a mini class reunion next Tuesday (12/09/14) starting at 11:30 A.M.”
Let's call this: "It's Just Lunch". The purpose of this meeting is for people who have known each other since they were small children, to get together, share stories and have a good time. Please
share this on Facebook and with your personal emails.
Any questions, call me at 620 423-2798 or email me. Hope to see you there.
Mike Howerter
AHS Class of 1962
P.S. We have the meeting room at the Pizza Hut reserved for the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 11:30am till 1:30pm for the next 4 months.
